Insta-worthy Study Spot: Lock 6 Café
Located a 1-minute walk from Charlemont Luas Stop, Lock 6 Café is a quirky and quaint, Instagram-worthy spot to stop on your way home from college. Had a bad day? Pop in for their homemade cookies. Have some study to do? Grab a quiet coffee and enjoy the cosy and calm ambience. Want to get a head-start on prinks? This place has got you sorted with wine and other alcoholic beverages.
Portion sizes here are v e r y generous (we practically had to roll home). If you’re looking for somewhere to bring your parents/grandparents on their visits to the Big Shmoke this place ticks all the boxes. For your morning commute, Lock 6 make fresh scones every morning (2.50 euro).
Top Tip: Turn up early to get them when they are freshest (especially on Thursday and Friday’s as they are especially popular for an end of week treat!)
For the Veggies
This place has a wonderful array of vegetation options. We trialled the falafel sandwich (7 euro). This super healthy, Moroccan themed sandwich is packed with flavour and comes on toasted ciabatta. Good for keeping to those New Years resolutions of healthy eating, while still treating yo’self.
Sinéad's Favourite
Chicken & Chorizo (7 euro): An inspired twist on the classic chicken & chorizo sandwich; this lunch has impactful flavours of spicy mayo and veggie goodness.
For the Coffee Enthusiast
Lock 6 have an impressively wide range of coffee options. They offer soya and almond milk, and you can make your coffee your own with options of extra shots and syrup. Coffees start at 2.40 for a Flat White.
Lock 6 is definitely worth the short journey from Trinity (15 minute walk) if you’re looking to eat well on a budget. The kitchen is located in the backyard, and takes the form of a decked out catering van. The staff are super welcoming and are super happy to have a chat, making this spot feel like a little piece of home in the big city.
